Erika’s connection to the Upper Valley runs deep. She grew up immersed in her family’s business, William Smith Auctioneer and Appraisers, where she developed a lifelong appreciation for antiques, history, and people. Growing up in the auction world gave her an ease with clients from all walks of life and a natural ability to build trust and lasting relationships, skills that continue to define her real estate career today.
With over 21 years of professional experience, Erika offers clients a well-rounded perspective shaped by entrepreneurship, marketing, and service-driven industries. After attending college in Maine, she opened and operated her own restaurant, Maxfield’s at the Gallery, where she combined her entrepreneurial drive with a love of hospitality and community engagement. That foundation of service shapes how she approaches real estate, prioritizing clear communication, attention to detail, and exceptional client care. Erika’s career path has also included roles in the outdoor and lifestyle industries, reflecting her adventurous spirit and adaptability. She worked with Tecnica Ski before transitioning into a marketing role with Dolomite Hiking, gaining valuable experience in branding, market positioning, and client outreach. These skills translate seamlessly into real estate marketing, where strategic presentation and thoughtful storytelling play a key role in successful transactions.
A particularly meaningful chapter of Erika’s journey took place in Vail, where she managed an animal shelter. Growing up surrounded by dogs, cats, and horses, her commitment to animal welfare has remained a constant throughout her life. Today, that passion continues at home with her German Shepherd, Tuck, and Riley, her rescue Border Collie mix.
Licensed in both New Hampshire and Vermont, Erika is well positioned to serve clients throughout the Upper Valley. She is also an active member of the Plainfield Town Hall Preservation Committee, reflecting her long-standing interest in history, preservation, and giving back to the communities she serves. Her dedication to community involvement is matched by her commitment to family. As a devoted mother, she was a familiar and enthusiastic presence on the sidelines of countless soccer games during her son’s years at Kimball Union Academy.
Outside of real estate, Erika enjoys soccer, collecting antiques, and traveling, with Italy standing out as her favorite destination so far. Real estate has allowed her to expand her circle of friends while maintaining the flexibility to stay present for what matters most: family, community, and the pursuits she loves.
