Since the late 19th century, Cornish has been a well-known summer resort for artists and writers including sculptor Augustus Saint-Gardens, painter Maxfield Parrish and reclusive author J.D. Salinger. Dotted with several small villages, Cornish is located on the Connecticut River and is the site of the longest wooden covered bridge in the U.S, connecting over into Windsor, VT.
