Since the late 19th century, Cornish has been a well-known summer resort for artists and writers including sculptor Augustus Saint-Gardens, painter Maxfield Parrish and reclusive author J.D. Salinger. Dotted with several small villages, Cornish is located on the Connecticut River and is the site of the longest wooden covered bridge in the U.S, connecting over into Windsor, VT. In 2019, there were 1,617 residents living in this picturesque Upper Valley town, whose pride can be seen at The Cornish Fair - a traditional, family-friendly, educational, agricultural fair held annually in August.
