Summer has finally arrived - bringing with it warm sunshine, long days, and an abundance of opportunities to get outside. From gardening to boating, hiking to swimming, and everything in between there is an activity for everyone to enjoy here in the Northeast. We are excited to share with you some of our favorite summer activities!
Take a Ride: Cruising the back roads in a motorcycle, exploring the beauty of our scenic byways, or enjoying a drive down the coast in Maine and New Hampshire, no matter the vehicle! There is something so peaceful about driving down a backroad with the windows down and sunlight on your face - bonus points if you can put the top down too. Just make sure you brake for Moose!
“Nothing compares to spending the day on my Goldwing. I love riding under the warm sun through the quaint villages, and past the rolling hay fields and dairy farms of NH and VT.” - Robyn Van Vechten, Franconia Office
Invite Your Loved Ones: Whether it is hiking or simply playing in the yard, our agents and staff love spending time with family outside. Throw a steak on the grill, pack a picnic for the beach, enjoy a cool beverage on the patio, watch the sky glow with the sunset or splash around in the pool - it’s all better with your loved ones in attendance.
“Paddle boarding on the Ompompanoosuc River, preferably with my grandchildren!” - Nan Carroll, Hanover Office
Splash Around: Our regions have so many options to enjoy the water- lakes, ponds, rivers and streams are seemingly around every corner. Many of our agents share that they look forward to reading a good book by the waters edge on a summer day. Water activities are plentiful - you can paddle boarding on Eastman Lake, wake surf on Sunapee, cast a line on Chocorua Lake, tube on Squam, and swim in the Saco River.
“I can bask in the sun for hours reading or find many water activities to maintain my fitness level. Once summer ends on Lake Sunapee, I count down the days until it’s time to return.” - Marie Lovell, Sunapee Office
Get to New Heights: The White Mountains are home to 48 peaks that are over 4,000 feet! Whether you are new to hiking or have been hiking for decades, there’s a trail for everyone! For shorter hikes we recommend: Echo Mountain Trail in Fairlee, Vermont ,which is a 1.5 mile hike with views of Lake Morey; or Crystal Cascades, a 0.7 mile hike near Mt. Washington with a beautiful waterfall.
